First let me start with an official definition of the word giveaway (credits to dictionary.com). " 1. act or instance of giving something away." What I'm not understanding is how doing an offer to get an entry to your contest is an actual giveaway unless you're giving away all the money instead of profiting from this. These belong in self promotion since you are making money from it. Here are a few examples as of this post:

So just suggestion to users people doing any other task besides simply posting there name is NOT a giveaway. I know this won't help just thought staff should be aware and inform users since they obviously don't know what an actual giveaway is

By that definition all self-promo threads belong in that subforum.

Yeah I came back after a month just took a little vacation. Its not too hard to balance school and the internet which was the main reason I left. And safety not referral zone because they aren't paying you for every entry therefore you are taking a chance in a raffle and they only pay one person so it should be self promotion.

It doesn't belong in self promotion because they are also paying someone eventually, so it's not just promoting themselves, like I said, I'll ask TJ about it.

Hmm, yeah I would say that if there's a reward involved that would = referral zone.
Blatant advertising and stuff for free referrals / sign ups = self promotion.
