Hi, I've been having a problem updating 3 updates. I tried several things that didn't fix it and its really pissing me off. I'll shut down my computer and it keeps trying to install the same updates that always fail. Sometimes the updates get stuck of 1/3 when its shutting down so I have to hold the power button to shut it off. Please help. Thanks
- Tim

Try doing a system restore *before* you did the 1st update. then use ccleaner, wait about 30 mins(do w/e you want), turn off PC for 5 minutes, then turn it back on, browse the web for a couple minutes, close, use ccleaner again, then try the updates..

I said this becuz before i also got update errors and i just did w/e and left it alone etc. then it worked for some reason :p

P.S. What kind of updates where they ? eg. Windows 7 Security Update, etc.

I've been having this problem since May so I don't have the original backup file.

Failed Updates:
Games for Windows Software V3.5
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2506212)
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2507618)

I'm about to give up on it and start over with a new install.

If you have trouble downloading updates for Windows 7, just copy & paste the error code into google and that will give you an explanation why, unless you've already done that? I'd have to go with someone above saying do a 'restore to and earlier time'.

yeah did that, and don't have a backup from before. I'm working on backing up all my steam games and music.

Windows updates SUCK! I always have system settings problems after I update.

May I ask how long you wait at the update screen before you go ballistic?
Sometimes if you let it sit there all night it understands that it should start working and stop being lazy...

and if all else fails just go to the settings and stop it from updating.

Looks to me like part of the update downloaded successfully and part didn't, but it's not verifying the download package and trying to reference files that aren't there. You'll need to go in and delete all the update files so that it fully redownloads them. Maybe

Tried that too but thanks.

I'm just backing up everything and reinstalling but thanks everyone. I should start with a fresh install anyway.
